California

Kevin's dad got a job in San Diego, so for our anniversary we decided to head to Cali for a week. We got there on Saturday and headed straight for Coronado Island. We had a very yummy lunch and then walked around the hotel. After Coronado Island, we headed out to Del Mar for the horse races. I learned that I am pretty good at betting on horses... I just pick funny names!

On Sunday, Kevin, his dad, and brother went golfing in Carlsbad. I decided to head down to the Gaslamp district for a little shopping. I met up with the guys for the last 9 holes. The golf course was absolutely beautiful!
On Monday, Kevin and I went to the San Diego Zoo. It took us about 4 hours to walk around the whole zoo! They had so many cool animals there, but my favorites were the pandas!
On Tuesday, which was our 2 year anniversary, we rented a 2010 convertible Mustang and headed up the coast to LA. We decided to do something fun for our anniversary and spent the afternoon at Disneyland! They even gave us a button to wear around so everyone would know it was our anniversary!
After Disneyland, we went into downtown LA and checked into our hotel. It was called the Millenium Biltmore Hotel. It was a very cool hotel with a lot of history. The Academy Awards were held there in the 1930's and 40's. For dinner we went to Eva Longoria Parker's restuarant, Beso. It was so delicious!!! On Wednesday, we decided to do some sightseeing around LA. First we went to the Westwood Village Cemetary. There we saw Marilyn Monroe's tomb, and the gravesites of Don Knots, Rodney Dangerfield, Merv Griffin, Jack Lemmon, and Walter Matthau. We learned after we got home that Farrah Fawcet is buried there but there isn't a headstone yet. Next we went to Rodeo Drive and walked around. We also drove around Beverly Hills and even found the entrance gate to the Playboy Mansion. We had lunch at Pink's Hotdogs, which are suppose to be there best hotdogs around. Kevin got a huge hotdoge with cheese, chili, bacon, and jalapenos! I just got a chili and cheese. We also walked down Holloywood Blvd and went by the Chinese Theater. That evening we headed out to Rancho Cucamonga to visit one of my high school best friends, Katie. We met her husband, Eric and her adorable baby girl, Kayla. We enjoyed our evening out there!
On Thursday, we headed back down the coast through Huntington Beach and Laguna Beach. We stopped in Temecula Valley for a little wine tasting.

On Friday, we went with Kevin's dad to the Midway aircraft carrier. What a huge ship it is! It took us about 3 and 1/2 hours to walk the entire ship! It's amazing that something so big can be built!

Friday night, we went to Petco park to see the San Diego Padres take on the Milwaukee Brewers. It was a pretty exciting game and the Padres won! Afterwards, there were fireworks!
Saturday, we spent the morning in downtown San Diego at the port. We went to a Maritime Musuem and got to tour 7 different boats. We went on 2 submarines and even on a ship that the movie Master and Commander was filmed on. Saturday evening we had to get on the plane to head back to DFW :( We absolutely loved it in San Diego and hope to get back there soon!
